Moorgate Inc ("we", "our", or "us") built the Hive app for iPhone. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and your choices. It applies to the Hive iOS app, its widgets, and its Live Activity.
Information We Collect
Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device only and never sent to us (it is shared between the app, its widgets, and its Live Activity using Apple's App Groups feature):
- Your calendar links — the Veracross and Canvas calendar links you paste in.
- Your schedule and homework — downloaded directly from Veracross and Canvas to your device.
- Your preferences — followed teams, your chosen look and app icon, and notification settings.
Hive downloads dining menus and game schedules directly from their public web pages. None of this passes through our server.
Data Our Server Stores
Hive uses one small server we operate (hosted on Cloudflare) for invites and the Ideas board. It stores:
- A random ID created by the app on your device. It is not your Apple Account, phone number, or email, and it is not the advertising identifier.
- The first name you enter, and your grade if you join the waitlist, so invites can say who they're from.
- Invite records — your invite code, how many invites you have left, and who invited whom.
- Ideas and bug reports you choose to post, with the name you attach, and any votes you give.
- Which days the app was opened, counted per random ID, so we know how many people use Hive.
Cloudflare processes IP addresses briefly to deliver requests and prevent abuse. We do not store them.
Notifications
Class and homework reminders are local notifications, scheduled entirely on your device. Nothing is sent to us or to any third party. Notification permission is optional — you can allow or revoke it at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → Hive.
Third-Party Services
Hive uses no third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services, and includes no third-party SDKs. The app connects to Veracross and Canvas using the calendar links you provide, to Proctor Academy's public website and its dining provider's public menu page, to Apple Maps for directions, and to our own server on Cloudflare as described above.
Children's Privacy
Hive is designed for high school students. It does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Data Sharing
Your Choices
- Notifications — allow or disable in iOS Settings → Notifications → Hive.
- Delete data on your device — use Settings → Wipe everything in the app, or delete the app.
- Delete data on our server — email us and we will delete your name, invites, and posts.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
