Moorgate Inc ("we", "our", or "us") built the Lettrd app. This Privacy Policy explains what information the app accesses, how it is used, and your choices.
Information We Collect
Data Stored on Your Device
The following data is stored locally on your device only and never leaves it:
- Preferences — your selected role (student or parent), temperature unit, weather toggle, theme choice, and notification settings.
- Class schedule — class names you enter for each letter day period.
- Cached calendar data — school calendar events fetched from the district website, cached locally to reduce network requests.
- Subscription status — whether you have an active Premium subscription, stored locally and shared with the home screen widget.
Location Data
If you enable the weather feature, the app requests your approximate location to display current weather conditions. Your location is sent directly to Apple's Weather service to retrieve weather data. We never receive, store, or transmit your location. Location access is optional and can be disabled at any time in your device's Settings.
Network Requests
The app makes read-only requests to the following sources:
- Pleasantville Schools district websites — to fetch letter day schedules, school calendar events, and closure/delay alerts.
- DigitalSports / school athletics websites — to fetch sports schedules.
- Apple Weather — to display current weather (only if you enable weather).
- Apple StoreKit — to process subscription purchases (handled entirely by Apple).
No personal data is included in any of these requests.
Subscriptions
The app offers an optional auto-renewable subscription ("Premium") managed entirely through Apple's App Store. Payment processing, billing, and subscription management are handled by Apple. We do not have access to your payment information. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your device's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions.
Third-Party Services
The app does not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or tracking services. The only third-party library used is SwiftSoup, an open-source HTML parser that runs entirely on your device.
Children's Privacy
The app is designed for high school students and their parents. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13. Since the app does not collect any personal data, no special provisions for children's data are necessary.
Data Sharing
Your Choices
- Location — you can disable location access in Settings > Privacy > Location Services.
- Weather — you can turn off the weather feature in the app's settings.
- Notifications — you can disable notifications in Settings > Notifications.
- Delete all data — uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
